Start with Arabic letters, their sounds and vowel marks. Our Noorani Qaida lessons help children and adult beginners connect those building blocks into words, then prepare for guided Quran reading.
For children beginning Arabic reading, adults starting from the alphabet, and returning learners rebuilding their foundations. No previous Arabic reading is needed. Discuss your starting point and readiness during the trial.
Work towards recognising letters in different positions, reading marked words accurately and approaching short Quran passages with less prompting. Understanding matters more than rushing to finish the booklet.
Follow the visual steps below. Your tutor can revisit a skill when you need more practice.
Know each letter
Recognise isolated letters and distinguish similar shapes and sounds. Practise listening and repeating with attention to where each sound comes from.
Progress checkpoint: Identify a letter without relying on its order in the alphabet.
Connect the shapes
Explore initial, middle and final letter shapes. Separate a joined word into its letters before connecting the sounds again.
Progress checkpoint: Recognise the letters inside an unfamiliar combination.
Read the vowel marks
Read Fathah, Kasrah and Dammah, then practise Tanween endings. Compare small changes in markings and listen for the change in sound.
Progress checkpoint: Read marked combinations without adding or dropping vowels.
Notice rest and doubling
Connect a letter with Sukoon to the preceding sound and practise doubled letters marked with Shaddah. Move from individual exercises to short words.
Progress checkpoint: Keep doubled and unvowelled letters distinct.
Build a steady rhythm
Recognise basic long-vowel patterns and practise the extensions being taught. Build a steady pace without rushing unfamiliar words.
Progress checkpoint: Distinguish short sounds from basic vowel extensions.
Bring the skills together
Combine the earlier skills in mixed exercises and selected short passages. Revisit recurring errors before moving to guided Quran reading.
Progress checkpoint: Read a new practice line with decreasing prompting.
Begin with earlier learning, focus on a manageable skill or passage, then use feedback to practise it again. Finish knowing what to revisit before the next lesson. This example structure can be adapted by your tutor.
Try a short routine: recognise a few letters, read the assigned line slowly, then repeat corrected sounds. Parents can listen and encourage without turning practice into a test. Stop before tiredness makes the activity frustrating.
No. Adults and returning learners benefit from the same reading foundations. Tell us your experience and goals so a suitable starting point can be discussed.
Yes. The course begins with shapes and sounds. Readiness also depends on engaging with a short guided activity; discuss this during the trial.
There is no fixed completion promise. Age, starting knowledge, lesson frequency and home practice affect progress. Secure reading skills should determine the next step.
Ask your tutor which edition and pages to use before buying anything. Matching learning materials can make home practice easier.
The focus is reading Arabic script for Quran study. Conversation, translation and grammar are separate learning goals.
Once the foundations are secure, move towards Quran Reading & Tajweed. Your tutor can identify any remaining gaps before that transition.
